El Matador quickly realised that keeping pace with the Peugeots was not an option, so he just got down to the job in hand and overhauled Solberg for fourth spot on Sunday, this became 3rd after Makinen crashed. He then got 2nd after Gronholm was excluded and then 1st when Burns had a slim line fly wheel. Victory Carlos!!!

The start of McRae and Grist's trebble in 2001, they lead from start to finish. After six rallies with DFN's this was a welcome return of form for Ford and McRae.

The Ford team came home with a 3rd & 4th on the Monte, McRae following up his team mate Sainz in 4th not the podium but a strong finish for a rally he hates.
